Who We Are
Advanced Supportive Living was founded by Jama Alpacino Libiz and Paul Dona Michaud on March 2018 in Novato, California. We are composed of highly skilled nurses who are dedicated to providing exceptional supportive living services to patients who are intellectually and/or developmentally disabled over the age of 18.
Mission Statement
Our mission at Advanced Supportive Living is to provide the necessary level of support for individuals who have made a decision to live in their own home. Advanced Supportive Living shall encourage individuals with developmental and/or intellectual challenges in order to take control of and be responsible for their life choices. Advanced Supportive Living shall provide an array of supportive services to our individuals. Advanced Supportive Living shall facilitate making informed choices concerning where and how they shall live. We shall ensure successful community living options by providing individualized support based on each individual’s needs.
Our belief is that supported living is a simple concept which enables a person with a developmental and/or intellectual disability who requires long-term and organized assistance to join our agency to live a community-based life. Our role is to arrange or provide whatever assistance is necessary for each individual to live in his/her own in a decent and secure home. By giving these individuals choices and teaching rights and responsibilities, we shall empower them to design a structure of support that shall enhance their lifestyle and assist them in becoming active within their community.
Advanced Supportive Living believes that each individual has an inherent right to make choices for themselves. North Bay Regional Center has been at the forefront of the Self-Advocacy movement and has always been innovative in developing their system around the ever-changing and growing needs of their individuals. Advanced Supportive Living shall work together with North Bay Regional Center and its staff to develop individualized support for the individuals we serve.
Our goal is to assist and support individuals with developmental and/or intellectual challenges to exercise their civil right to vote in political elections. We believe in assisting them in finding medical care in order to achieve quality health care. Our aim is to assist and promote self-confidence and self-esteem in the individuals that we serve.
What Makes Us Unique?
We focus on the individual. Advanced Supportive Living believes in values such as:
- Choosing where and with whom to live.
- Controlling the character and appearance of the environment within their home.
- Choosing and changing their SLS vendors and direct service staff. Participating actively in their ISP process so that the supported living services they receive is based on their needs and preferences.
- Receiving services appropriate to their evolving needs and preferences for support without having to move from the home of their choice, for as long as supported living services remain the preferred objective, as determined in the Individual’s ISP process.
- Informing the regional center of how satisfied they are with the services they are receiving, and to have this information taken into account in the regional center’s periodic evaluation of Advanced Supportive Living’s service.
